Pupil Voice & School Council
School Council
Our School Council consists of 1 child from each class from Years 1-6.
Meetings are held every Thursday lunchtime, at 12.30 sharp! School Council Reps regularly speak to their class about what has been discussed and use questionnaires as a way of retrieving information from classmates.
Each class holds an election and many candidates write speeches as part of the process. The class will then vote.
Class representatives change each term, so more children can have a turn on the School Council during their time at Oakthorpe.
Year 6 children are given the chance to run the school council by applying for the below roles and are invited to an interview with Mrs Garrad (Headteacher) and Mrs Kenny (School Council Organiser). They will hold these jobs for the whole year.
Key Roles:
Chairperson: Chairs the meeting.
Secretary: Takes the register and writes minutes of the meeting.
Treasurer: Logs any funds.
Social Media Team: Hands out information and writes updates on ‘X’.
