At Oakthorpe Primary we believe that languages are an important part of our modern day world.  The study of an additional language helps us build our communication skills,  lays a foundation of lifelong learning and opens our understanding of the world. Pupils learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. The ability to understand and communicate in another language is a vital skill for education, employment and leisure in this country as well as throughout the world.

We aim to  have weekly lessons in Spanish throughout Key Stage 2. In addition to this we explore Spanish language and culture. Areas covered include: talking about yourself and where you live, animals, clothes, descriptive language, food, sports and my town (giving directions).
